We invite you to join us for events designed to bring the GLASS community together beyond the scientific program. Whether you sample hors d’oeuvres at the icebreaker or attend the organ concert and banquet, we hope you’ll gather with us and get to know your colleagues at one of the activities. Our social events will take place on Monday, July 6, and Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and are described below. A guided tour of the Land-Atmosphere Feedback Observatory (LAFO) at the University of Hohenheim is scheduled for approximately 16:00 CEST, with organized transportation from the conference venue.
LAFO operates a globally unique combination of in-situ and remote sensing systems, providing comprehensive datasets of the land-atmosphere system spanning from bedrock to the lower troposphere simultaneously. The observatory serves as a key component of the DFG Research Unit “Land-Atmosphere Feedback Initiative” (LAFI), advancing scientific understanding of land-atmosphere interactions through integrated observation capabilities.

On Wednesday at 19:00 CEST, a special organ concert will take place in the historical Stiftskirche of Stuttgart (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stiftskirche,_Stuttgart and https://www.stiftskirche.de). The church is located in the center of Stuttgart at the famous Schiller Place.
The entrance for this special concert for all Pan-GLASS participants is free. An arbitrary donation for the church is appreciated. More information about the church’s impressive organ is available at https://www.stiftsmusik-stuttgart.de/seiten/muehleisen-orgel.html.
The internationally-renowned organist Jürgen Rieger from Stuttgart will give the concert, and the program will be announced soon.

Location: Alte Kanzlei, Schillerpl. 5, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany
The conference banquet will be held at 20:00 CEST at the historic “Alte Kanzlei” in Stuttgart. The venue is located within walking distance of the Stiftskirche, where the organ concert will take place earlier in the evening. Guests can expect an excellent buffet-style dinner in a beautiful, historically significant setting. The attendance fee for the banquet is 50 Euro per person. Please note that drinks are not included in this price. Further payment details will be communicated at a later date.
