2014 GHP Meeting

A block of rooms has been reserved for GDIS and GHP meeting attendees at the Hilton hotel in Pasadena from 9 to 13 December 2014, at the US government rate of $138/night plus tax. The address is:

This special room rate is available until November 8th or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first. Because the hotel charges the host institution for no-shows or rooms not filled to capacity, there is a select number of rooms available at the government rate, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please book as soon as you can if you wish to reserve one of these rooms.Once the block of rooms is full, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (host of the event) will be happy to try to help you find a room in Pasadena. Under these circumstances, please contact Martha Farfan (martha.farfan@jpl.nasa.gov) with details of the lodging you need. Note that once all special-rate rooms are gone, lodging will depend on availability and may or may not be at the Hilton or at the government rate.

There are several options for getting from the LA International Airport or Burbank Airport to Pasadena. The most economical option is the Super Shuttle, a shared ride service from the airport to the hotel, costing around 30.00 USD. The second option is a taxi, with an estimated cost of 95 to 115 USD. You can also arrange for a car from the Hilton to pick you up for a flat fee of 95 USD; to do so, contact the hotel at +1-626-577-1000.

Public transportation is an alternative, but not as reliable or speedy as the methods above. You can take the FlyAway from LAX to Union Station, where you would then take the Gold line metro (5.00 USD) to Pasadena. Exit at the Memorial Park station, then take a taxi to the Hilton Hotel for about 10.00 USD. You can also walk the 0.7 miles from Memorial Park station to the Hilton.

Days 2-4 (Thursday 11 – Saturday 13 December):

• GDIS meeting will remain in the Beckman Institute Auditorium
• GHP meeting will be in the Keck Institute for Space Studies

Parking on Campus

For those driving themselves to Caltech, there are free parking passes (hang tags) for all attendees who are on the attendee lists provided. Attendees can pick up their parking passes when they register for the meeting.

The Hilton will have a shuttle running according to the schedule below going to and from the hotel to the meeting site. There is a $10 fee for taking the shuttle.
