ILSTSS2S (LS4P) Kickoff Workshop (By Invitation Only)

Dec 8 - 9, 2018 | Washington D.C.

The Impact of Initialized Land Temperature and Snowpack on Sub-seasonal to Seasonal Prediction (ILSTSS2S) is a GEWEX/GASS initiative.

This project focuses more on the process understanding and predictability rather than the operational S2S prediction and intends to address two questions:
  1. What is the impact of the initialization of large scale LST/SUBT and snow pack, including the aerosol in snow, in climate models on the S2S prediction over different regions?
  2. What is the relative role and uncertainties in these land processes versus in SST in S2S prediction? How do they synergistically enhance the S2S predictability?

We thank all participants for making this a successful and productive meeting.
Also, thanks to our sponsor Dr. Tandong Yao, Co-chair, by means of his TPE project and the NSF Project.
In addition, we would like to thank our organization staffs, Dr. Ailikun and Dr. Yingying Chen of ITP, and Dr. Diallo of UCLA, for their great efforts in helping organizing this workshop to make it go smoothly.

The acronym of the project “Impact of Initialized Land Temperature and Snowpack on Sub-seasonal to Seasonal Prediction (ILSTSS2S)” has been renamed at the Workshop and will be now know as LS4P (Land Surface 4 Prediction).
More information on LS4P and our kickoff workshop can be found here.
