 
Financial support

Limited financial assistance in the form of travel support and/or fee waivers are available to enable and support the attendance of students, early career researchers (ECRs) and scientists from certain developing countries to meetings and workshops organized or sponsored by GEWEX.

Priority will first be given to:

Early career researchers

Scientists from certain developing countries

All others

 
Note that the travel support will most likely not cover the entire cost of attending the meeting or workshop. Therefore, applicants are strongly advised to secure partial support from other sources.

Your financial support application

The deadline for applying for travel support is one month before the start date of the event, unless otherwise indicated by the International GEWEX Project Office on the meeting website.
Applicants for financial assistance will be notified of their application in the week following the deadline for applying for financial assistance.

After the meeting, you will receive additional information about the reimbursement process.
Make sure to keep your travel and accommodation receipts available for submission.

Note that reimbursement is based on actual costs with an awarded maximum.

Early Career Researcher Information

You are deemed an Early Career Researcher (ECR) if you are an undergraduate or postgraduate (M.Sc./Ph.D.) student or a scientist who has received his or her highest degree (B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D.) within the past six years.
If parental leave fell in this period, up to one year of parental leave time may be added per child, up to a maximum of four years.

The proof of enrollment at a university must include your name, degree program, and confirmation of your status as an enrolled student. Alternatively, you can provide a letter from a supervising professor listing your name, degree program, and confirmation of your status as an enrolled student. Please check with your institution’s registrar or equivalent official who handles student records if you need assistance.
